M4M (Music for Miles) Chamber Music Series at Arts Collinwood

Chamber music comes to the Arts Collinwood Gallery and honors Arts Collinwood founder and friend, the late Miles Kennedy.  Miles and Nan Kennedy’s son, Simon and his wife Catharine are sponsoring this series.  The M4M Chamber Music Series begins on Sunday, October 16th at 4:00 p.m. with a string performance by the International Composer Collective. Timothy Callaghan to Show at Arts Collinwood Gallery

Easel Pictures (Edge of the World) is the title of an upcoming gallery show at Arts Collinwood featuring the paintings of Timothy Callaghan.  This series of portraits are of Waterloo Road merchants and regular visitors to the Waterloo Arts District.  The show opening is Friday, October 7th from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at 15605 Waterloo Road.  The exhibition will be on view through October 30th.  A Gallery Talk hosted by Artist/Art Critic Dan Tranberg will take place at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th and is open to the public.

An installation of nearly 1,000 colorful pin- wheels, and make-and-take pinwheel crafts, to support EHS peace program activities.

Market at 4:00,  Concert at 6:00

Bring a picnic blanket and chairs. Pick up something tasty at the farmers’ market. Come early to browse the art booths, and stay for after-party fun at one of downtown Euclid’s local independent eateries.

The performance includes music and dance from around the world, with a focus on Guinea and India. The Passport Project Global Dance & Music Collective, a diverse group of professional and community artists who come together to plant seeds of peace and respect for all people through the arts, performs. Mohamed and Dix Huit of Guinea, West Africa share rhythms and song of their country. Playing music of India are Madhu Ravikumar (veena) and Josh Sherman (tabla) who share this gorgeous music. The Passport Project Community Drummers perform their growing repertory!

Join us at the Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival!

The Thirteenth Annual Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival returns to Lincoln Park on September 17 – 18, 2011. The mission of the Festival is to celebrate the cultural and artistic diversity of Tremont and Greater Cleveland by encouraging the artistic and cultural endeavors of its visual and performing artists.

The weekend Festival is comprised of four categories or program areas which include: Children’s-hands-on arts, historical, and educational projects; Community-area non-profit organizations presenting material about their mission and services; Cultural-food sales by Tremont churches, other non-profit organizations, and Tremont restaurants reflecting the ethnic diversity of the neighborhood; and sales of paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, and photographs created by Tremont and Northeast Ohio artists.

The Festival will have music and dance performances both Saturday and Sunday on one main stage located near Kenilworth Avenue between West 14th Street and West 11th Street.

Passport Project will be performing Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Foluke Cultural Arts Center Student Video Project

This video project was created by Brenda Brown, a student in Foluke Cultural Arts Center‘s Media Arts Program. The students conducted their own interviews, in addition to being interviewed about their projects, and edited their videos to add pictures and music in the lab at JR Productions Studio.
